Werder Bremen won their last home match of the 2013-14 season by beating Hertha Berlin 2-0 in the 33rd match day of the Bundesliga. Aaron Hunt scored both goals in his final match for Werder at Weser Stadium. With the victory, the Green-Whites improved to 12th place on the table.
One change
Werder head coach Robin Dutt made one change to his starting line-up with Eljero Elia starting in the offensive midfield for Cedrick Makiadi. Before the match, Hunt, Sebastian Mielitz, Cimo Röcker, Predrag and Aleksandar Stevanovic and Aleks Ignjovski were given their official farewells as all six of the Green-Whites will be leaving the club after the season.
Nervous first half
The guests had the first chance in front of a sold out crowd of 42,100 fans at Weser Stadium. Berlin's Ronny unleashed a long blast but Werder keeper Raphael Wolf was able to secure the ball. Both teams were very nervous in the aftermath and the hectic match didn't have many highlights in the early going. There two only two other chances in the first half as Wolf only blocked Per Skjeldred's shot in the ninth minute and Marcel Ndjeng's rebound attempt went wide left. Werder had their first opportunity in the 21st minute as Franco Di Santo sent his throw-in to Hunt who played a ball back to Theodor Gebre Selassie, but the Czech international's shot went just wide. The game was even at 0-0 at half-time.

Hunt scores
Playing in his final home match for Werder, Hunt gave the Green-Whites the lead 1-0 in the 48th minute. After some fine passing with Di Santo, Hunt was open in the area and coolly beat Berlin's keeper. The Werder fans went wild celebrating the goal. Di Santo nearly made it 2-0 five minutes later but his long distance shot from 17 yards out went just wide of the goal.
Hunt strikes again
Werder had the match under control at that point and Sebastian Prödl had the next chance after 77 minutes. The Austrian got to a corner kick but his shot went just wide of the Berlin goal. Hunt decided the match for good after 91 minutes with his second goal of the contest. Clemens Fritz passed to Hunt, who danced his way through the Berlin defence before nailing home to make it 2-0. It was the perfect farewell for Hunt in his last match for Werder at Weser Stadium.
