On the 15th match day of the season, a determined and committed performance by Werder Bremen was not enough to prevent a hefty 0-7 defeat to FC Bayern Munich. The goals for the visitors were scored by Assani Lukimya (own-goal), Daniel van Buyten, Frank Ribery (2), Mario Mandzukic, Thomas Müller and Mario Götze. The defeat sees Werder slip back to 14th in the table.
Petersen for Ekici
Trainer Robin Dutt made just one change to his starting eleven in comparison to last weekend, with Nils Petersen coming in to take a place in attack, whilst Mehmet Ekici was forced back to the substitute's bench. The 42,100 at the capacity filled Weser-Stadium saw an intensive game right from the outset, with Robin Dutt's side making a determined effort early on.
Chance for Hunt
In the 18th minute, Werder had a chance to take the lead. Eljero Elia broke from the left into the penalty area and laid square for Aaron Hunt, who immediately pulled the trigger. Jerome Boateng got a decisive touch on the ball though, turning the effort over the crossbar.

Bayern on the treble
The, in the 21st minute, the hosts found themselves somewhat unfortunately 0-1 down. Assani Lukimya stuck out a boot to intercept a Frank Ribery delivery and, in doing so, turned the ball past his keeper into the back of his own net. Six minutes later, Raphael Wolf was fishing the ball out of his net again, as Bayern increased their advantage to 2-0. From a Toni Kroos free-kick delivery, the Werder defence failed to pick up Daniel van Buyten, who headed home powerfully for the visitor's second. Shortly before the break, Raphael Wolf was beaten once again, this time by Franck Ribery, who slotted home from close range having taken on a pass from Thomas Müller. At the other end, Hunt was denied by Manuel Neuer and thus, Werder went in at the break trailing by 0-3.
Wolf denies Götze
The second half began with an excellent save by Raphael Wolf, who prevented Mario Götze from increasing the visitor's advantage with a quick reflex in a one-on-one situation in the 54th minute. On the hour mark, Ribery then squared for the unmarked Mandzukic, who made it 0-4 from close range. In the 69th minute, Thomas Müller hit a fifth for the Bavarians and, in doing so, effectively broke the Werder will. There were to follow further Bayern goals from Ribery (82‘) and Mario Götze (90‘), making the final score 0-7, as Werder Bremen painfully came under the FC Bayern Munich wheels.
