Werder Bremen came back to grab a thrilling 3-2 victory over Hannover on the 11th game day of the Bundesliga. Aaron Hunt scored from the spot while Cedrick Makiadi gave the Green-Whites a temporarily lead before Santiago Garcia provided the late winner. Szabolcs Huszti and Hiroki Sakai scored for Hannover.
Two changes
Werder head coach Robin Dutt made two changes to his starting line-up with Assani Lukimya and Theo Gebre Selassie filling in for Sebastian Prödl and Özkan Yildirim. Dutt once again played without a true striker with Eljero Elia, Zlatko Junuzovic and Hunt in front in the attack.
Hannover with better chances early, take lead
Werder did a good job confusing the Hannover defence but it was the guests who took the lead after 20 minutes as Clemens Fritz tried to clear a dangerous ball from Huszti but committed a foul. Huszti stepped up to the spot himself and struck home to the lower right corner for a 1-0 Hannover lead - the team's first goal scored away from home this season.

Bremen equalise from spot
The Hannover lead lasted only five minutes as the Green-Whites equalised 1-1 in the 25th minute. After Elia was taken down by Salif Sane in the box, Hunt took the spot kick and drilled it into the lower left corner. The guests had a series of chances thereafter but Leon Andreasen (29th), Edgar Prib (30th) and Lars Stindl (37th) could not convert.
Werder lead equalised
Makiadi proved more effective in the 38th minute, giving Bremen a 2-1 lead. Junuzovic's attempt from the right side landed directly at Makiadi, who nodded in from near distance. Once again a lead did not last long as Hannover equalised just three minutes later to make it 2-2 on Sakai's hammer blast from about 27 yards out in the 41st minute. The game was even at 2-2 at the break.
Debut for Selke, winner by Garcia
After all the excitement in the first half, the match lost lustre in the second half. Dutt brought on Davie Selke after 63 minutes to give the youngster his Bundesliga debut. Two minutes later, Makiadi had a chance but his shot went just over the bar. The contest appeared destined to end 2-2 before Garcia scored his first goal for Bremen - and the winner - in the 86th minute. Hunt's free kick landed at the Argentinean who struck home to make it 3-2. Selke nearly pushed the lead to 4-2 shortly thereafter but Bremen had already secured their victory.
