What an important last-minute victory! Thanks to a goal from Sebastian Prödl in stoppage time, Werder Bremen collected a 2-1 victory over northern German counterparts Hannover 96 on the 29th game day of the Bundesliga. Szalbocs Huszti gave Hannover the lead but Franco Di Santo and Prödl turned the game around.
Line-up and formation: A starting line-up with four changes was supposed to stop a recent negative run. After recovering from his knee ligament injury, Santiago Garcia returned to his usual spot at leftback. Luca Caldirola moved inside along side Prödl with Assani Lukimya heading to the bench. Philipp Bargfrede came back after sitting out his yellow card suspension to start as well as Cedrick Makiadi. Felix Kroos was injured, Ludovic Obraniak sat on the bench while Eljero Elia had the chance to start on the wing for the first time since early February while head coach Robin Dutt had to make due without a striker - Nils Petersen.
Highlights: Huszti's free kick goal incentive for fightback
43rd min., 1-0 for Hannover, goal scorer: Szabolcs Huszti. Hannover's second chance was enough to give them the lead. The Hungarian international Huszti did not worry about a tough angle on his free kick, curling his 21-yard shot directly through the Werder four-man wall with the ball bouncing past Raphael Wolf, who was too late to the near post.
56th min., 1-1 equaliser for Werder, goal scorer: Franco Di Santo. The Green-Whites rewarded themselves for their promising performance, which they continued after the break. Zlatko Junuzovic won a ball in the midfield and passed onto Aaron Hunt for a pass to Elia, whose touch ball was perfectly placed for Di Santo to equalise.
90th + 1 min., Goal! 2-1 for Werder, goal scorer Sebastian Prödl: Junuzovic struck a corner kick to the edge of the box with Caldirola heading onto Prödl, who was perfectly positioned and headed home the game winner from short range.

90th + 3 Min.: A deep sigh of relief! Hannover nearly equalised as Wolf made a great save on a header by Christian Schulz. Shortly thereafter referee Markus Schmidt blew the final whistle.
Noteworthy:
- Werder played highly concentrated and with courage, irritating the hosts especially with their flexible playing formation, which switched between 4-2-3-1, 4-1-4-1 and 4-4-2.
Scenes of the match: Two scenes were symbolic for the dramatic final minutes. Of course there was the corner which led to the good 5,000 Werder fans on hand celebrating the 2-1 lead. Just as important was the great save by Wolf against Schulz just seconds before the final whistle.
Conclusion: Bremen fought hard and played well and in the end deserved three important away points in the relegation fight. This victory in stoppage time is invaluable.
