Werder Bremen played to a 1-1 draw in their away match against Borussia Mönchengladbach with a strong performance on the 25th Bundesliga game day. Peniel Mlapa gave Gladbach the lead before Aleksandar Ignjovski equalised for the Green-Whites, who improved to 13th place with the draw - which snapped a three-match losing streak.
Four changes - Trybull with season debut
Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf made four changes to his line-up with Theodor Gebre Selassie, Clemens Fritz, Mateo Pavlovic and Tom Trybull (making his season debut on his 20th birthday) replacing Aaron Hunt, Marko Arnautovic, Mehmet Ekici and the suspended Sokratis.
Gladbach goal disallowed
Gladbach appeared to have scored on their first chance in the 15th minute as Patrick Herrmann's goal was initially given but the referees met together and decided the hosts were offside.
Petersen with two chances
The Green-Whites were solid defensively and created chances up front though Nils Petersen's blast went just inches left from 12 yards out in the 26th minute. Petersen was close again six minutes later but Gladbach keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen fended around the left post Petersen's shot from 19 yards. Herrmann missed a chance in first half injury time as the score was dead-locked 0-0 at half-time.

Hunt for Fritz
Schaaf swapped Hunt for Fritz at the break after the captain was a bit shaken after a collision with Havard Nordtveit. The Green-Whites threatened again in the 68th minute but ter Stegen stopped Kevin De Bruyne's shot after a long solo run by the Belgian international.
Mlapa goal equalised by Ignjovski
Gladbach took the lead 1-0 after 72 minutes on a set piece as Mlapa headed home Oscar Wendt's corner kick. Werder answered right back in the 77th minute, making it 1-1 with Ignjovski hitting in De Bruyne's cross. Both teams had chances for the win in the closing minutes.
