Werder Bremen have their next away match on Saturday 9 March 2013 at 6:30 p.m. with a trip to Borussia Mönchengladbach on the 25th match day. It will be a tough match for Thomas Schaaf's Green-Whites. Gladbach are playing a bit better at the moment and Werder have won only one of the last seven contests in Gladbach.

The Green-Whites have some personnel problems going into the match. In addition to the suspended Sebastian Prödl and Sokratis, Joseph Akpala (ligament tear) and reserve keeper Raphael Wolf (cruciate ligament tear) are both out and it's questionable if Kevin De Bruyne (patella tendon) can play. "We have to wait and see how we put together the squad for this game," said Schaaf at the official press conference before the match. "We have to be fully concentrated in Gladbach, really have to come up with a strong performance to return to the winning column." Manager Thomas Eichin agrees but added that the team should work on avoiding sinking into a bad mood. "I have seen how we work here and therefore I don't sense any pressure situation," said Eichin.

Max Eberl: "We are there"

Gladbach's current form is definitely on the way up. The somewhat lucky 1-0 road victory last weekend against Eintracht Frankfurt was important. And as opposed to the situation in Bremen, dreams of international play next season for Gladbach are still realistic. Coach Lucien Favre's team has proven a tough team, especially against the top three in the league. Juan Arango, Luuk de Jong and co have been strong enough to collect one point against Bayern, Dortmund (both 1-1) and Leverkusen (3-3).

Bremen would definitely be more satisfied with a draw Saturday evening than Mönchengladbach. Gladbach hope to continue their strong play and reach international play next season. Favre's team was recently bounced from the Round of 16 of the Europa League against Lazio Rome. Then Gladbach picked up four points from their next two Bundesliga matches. "That was a super reaction to the elimination in Rome and the right signal that we are there," said sports director Max Eberl. Werder, however, were able to win the first match-up this season 4-0 at home. And the Green-Whites would have nothing against a repeat of the result.
