Werder Bremen lost their away match against Eintracht Frankfurt 4-1 on the 16th match day of the Bundesliga. Alexander Meier, Pirim Schwegler, Stefan Aigner and Takashi Inui scored for the hosts. Nils Petersen had temporarily equalized for Werder.
Junuzovic back
Head coach Thomas Schaaf once again had to do without injured Aaron Hunt, who was again replaced by Felix Kroos. In addition, Zlatko Junuzovic returned to the line-up after his suspension, sending Aleksandar Ignojovski back to the bench.
0-0 at halftime
The 51,000 fans in Frankfurt saw a first half which didn't have many highlights. Werder concentrated on stabilising their defence and Frankfurt did not apply too much pressure with their offence. In the 36th minute, Sebastian Prödl made a last second save against Olivier Occean while Kevin De Bruyne shot just wide of the Frankfurt goal at the other end. And the match remained scoreless at halftime.

Frankfurt pull ahead
The action started early in the second half as Frankfurt jumped ahead 1-0 in the 47th minute as Prödl did not mark Meier, who headed past Werder keeper Sebastian Mielitz for Frankfurt's first goal.
Werder equalize
Werder came up with the perfect answer in the 54th minute to make it 1-1. Marko Arnautovic crossed to Petersen, who nodded home from near distance. De Bruyne had another chance but Frankfurt's keeper stopped the attempt.
Two goals within 60 seconds
Out of nowhere, Frankfurt took the lead 2-1 in the 63rd minute as Schwegler hammered in a blast from about 30 yards. And less than 60 seconds later, Aigner increased the Frankfurt advantage to 3-1, more or less deciding the game. Lukas Schmitz lost his footing on Occean's pass, giving Aigner all the space he needed. Werder could not find their way back into the game and gave up a fourth goal in the 90th minute by Inui, who made it 4-1.
