Werder Bremen suffered their first loss ever against FC Augsburg, losing 3-1 on the seventh game day of the Bundesliga. Kevin de Bruyne equalised the game at 1-1 for the Green-Whites. But Tobias Werner, Stephan Hain and Daniel Baier scored for Augsburg, who won their first match of the season after having tallied two goals in their first six matches.
Werder equalise through de Bruyne
Bremen head coach Thomas Schaaf made two changes to his line-up with Lukas Schmitz playing for Theo Gebre Salassi and Joseph Akpala filling in up front for Nils Petersen. Augsburg grabbed the lead after two minutes as Paul Verhaegh crossed into the middle where Werner beat Werder captain Clemens Fritz into the box to head home from seven yard out. Werder equalised in the 19th minute as de Bruyne's long free kick went untouched past Augsburg keeper Mohamed Amsif.

Augsburg take lead again
The hosts regained the advantage after 32 minutes with Knowledge Musona sending a through ball to Hain, who beat Bremen keeper Sebastan Mielitz into the left corner for a 2-1 lead. And that was the score after the break.
Substitutions do not work
Schaaf brought on Gebre Selassie for Schmitz at halftime and then Niclas Füllkrug for Eljero Elia after 62 minutes and Nils Petersen came on for Marko Arnautovic in the 69th minute. But the substitutions could not get the job done.
Augsburg strike again
Augsburg increased the lead to 3-1 in the 72nd minutes on a set piece. Bremen keeper Sebastian Mielitz went too far from his spot on the line to get back in time for Baier's free kick. ugsburg nearly scored a fourth goal but Werner shot wide left on a counter attack in the 82nd minute and Milan Petrzela struck the right post in the 90th minute. And Bremen were left empty-handed with seven points from seven matches.
