SV Werder Bremen travel to their away match against Fortuna Düsseldorf (Saturday, 3:30 p.m.) with some major personnel concerns. But the Green-Whites would like to finally grab three points after seven matches without a victory at the promoted team and with it increase the distance from the relegation ranks.

Theodor Gebre Selassie (ligament strain) was able to return to training in time for the match in Düsseldorf after a week away, but Aaron Hunt will miss the contest with a fever. "The situation is not getting any better," said Bremen head coach Thomas Schaaf.

Max Wegner in squad?
The Werder coach once again will have to think a bit outside the box. "Our scope for action is not really that many. The players I have available have quality. But the alternatives are lots of young people with little experience," said Schaaf. One such squad option could be U23 player Max Wegner, who trained with the professionals on Thursday. "I could also be a chance to show what you can do. As a player, you can really develop and show that you are up to the challenge," said Werder manager Thomas Eichin.

“Everything okay” –Theo Gebre Selassie was given the green light Thursday afternoon to play in Düsseldorf.

Eichin: "It will be a battle!"
Also at training was Zlatko Junuzovic, whose return on Tuesday made Schaaf very happy. "Zladdi has proven very impressively this season that he can really push forward. He has the commitment, the willingness and the will to assert himself in challenges. And that element helps us," said Schaaf.

But when Düsseldorf (15th on the table) welcome Werder (14th), the host team will be in a very tight situation. Former Bremen player Norbert Meier's Fortuna came out of the winter break with a comfortable nine-point cushion to the relegation playoff 16th place. But that margin continues to shrink and after the 3-0 loss in Hoffenheim the gap to 17th place was only six points. "Everyone realises that we are talking about our existence," said the Düsseldorf midfielder Dani Schahin. "Both teams can get some breathing room with a victory. So it will be a battle," added Eichin.
