Werder Bremen lost their away match at Bayern Munich 6-1 on the 23rd match day of the Bundesliga. Mario Gomez scored two goals for Munich while Arjen Robben, Javi Martinez and Franck Ribery also tallied for Bayern, who received an own goal by Bremen's Theo Gebre Selassie. Kevin De Bruyne scored Werder's goal. Werder finished the match with 10 men as Sebastian Prödl was shown the red card. It was SVW's second straight defeat, dropping the Green-Whites to 12th place on the table.
Three changes
Head coach Thomas Schaaf made three changes to his starting line-up with Gebre Selassie, Marko Arnautovic and Aaron Hunt starting for Clemens Fritz, Eljero Elia and Mehmet Ekici. The Green-Whites began the match very concentrated and stood well defensively.
1-0 by Robben
The Green-Whites fell behind 1-0 after 23 minutes on a counter attack as Philipp Lahm crossed from the right side into the box where Robben poked home from four yards out. Bremen keeper Sebastian Mielitz had no chance to stop the goal. And Bayern pushed forward immediately looking for more.

2-0 by Martinez
In the 29th minute, Zlatko Junuzovic fouled Robben, resulting in a free kick which Robben struck into the area where Werder's defence did not mark Martinez and the Spaniard headed in to make it 2-0. Werder went a man down a minute before the break as Prödl was shown the red card for his professional foul on Gomez.
Own goal by Gebre Selassie
Two quick goals by Bayern shortly after the re-start finished off any chances for the Green-Whites. Munich went ahead 3-0 after Gebre Selassie deflected Gomez's pass into his own goal in the 49th minute and then Gomez hit home after a looping pass from Ribery to make it 4-0 after 51 minutes.
De Bruyne pulls back a goal
De Bruyne was able to pull back at least one goal in the 58th minute to make it 4-1. But Bayern were too strong for Schaaf's under-manned team. Munich finished the match strong with two more goals as Ribery tallied in the 86th minute and Gomez pushed the lead to 6-1 in the 89th minute.
