Werder Bremen beat 1899 Hoffenheim 4-1 in their away match on the 15th Bundesliga match day thanks to a hat-trick by Marko Arnautovic. In addition to the three goals by Arnautovic, Sebastian Prödl also scored for the Green-Whites. Sejad Salihovic scored Hoffenheim's only goal.
Hunt out
Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf made two changes to his starting line-up with captain Clemens Fritz coming on for the suspended Zlatko Junuzovic and Felix Kroos replacing Aaron Hunt, who was a late scratch with a calf problem.
Prödl scores
Werder started the game well and controlled ball possession against the uncertain hosts. The Green-Whites went ahead in the 21st minute as Kevin De Bruyne's free kick into the box went to Prödl, who jumped over Joselu for a looping header over Hoffenheim keeper Koen Casteels to make it 1-0.

Arnautovic pushes lead to 2-0
Werder struck again in the 29th minute after Daniel Williams lost a ball deep in his own territory. Arnautovic went one-two with De Bruyne and then beat Casteels with a left foot to push the lead to 2-0. While the hosts could do little right, Werder put together a superb match.
Missed chances
De Bruyne (44th minute) and Nils Petersen (45th) both failed to convert excellent chances to extend the lead to three goals at the end of the first half as Werder went into the break ahead 2-0.
Salihovic cuts lead to 2-1
Shortly after the re-start, the Bremen defence lost its concentration and Hoffenheim pulled a goal back with Salihovic being the beneficiary of some fine passing before beating Werder keeper Sebastian Mielitz to make it 2-1 after 50 minutes.
Werder with problems
The Green-Whites struggled to regain control of the match and Hoffenheim had a number of chances to equalise the game but failed to convert while the Bremen offence could not relieve the pressure on the Werder backline.
Two more Arnautovic scores
Arnautovic more or less decided the game with his curling free kick goal in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1. Hoffenheim were broken for good and Arnautovic finished his hat-trick in the 79th minute after a through ball from Joseph Akpala, chipping his shot over Hoffenheim's keeper for the 4-1 lead. And Werder had collected the important road victory.
