When Werder Bremen play at Nuremberg on Saturday 17 September 2011 at 3:30 p.m. Thomas Schaaf's team would like to confirm their recent strong showings and optimally bring home three points.

"We still have a development ahead of us and will not overdo it regarding the expectations," said Werder manager Klaus Allofs. "We are not playing to take over the lead on the standings but to get to 15 points." Schaaf said his squad is giving him many good options. "It is very positive how the team is working and there has been a clear change in how the team is playing compared to last season," said Schaaf. Still the coach sees his team needing work. "We need to grow together more and continue to develop," said Schaaf. And the next chance is in Nuremberg.
The opponents finished last season a surprising sixth place but saw a number of important players leave - Andreas Wolf, Mehmet Ekici (both to Werder), Ilkay Gündogan (to Dortmund) and Julian Schieber (to Stuttgart). Nonetheless Nuremberg have picked up three victories (against Berlin, Augsburg and Cologne) and are currently seventh on the table. And they have earned respect. "This success is not just from out of the blue," warned Schaaf in the press conference before the game.
