Six games, nine points, 10th place. There have been promoted teams who have struggled more in their acclimation to the Bundesliga. But the mood around Werder's next opponents Hertha Berlin (Sunday 25 September 2011 at 5:30 p.m. at Weser Stadium) has had its highs and lows the last two weeks.

According to the Berliner Tagesspiegel daily, Hertha head coach Markus Babbel has instituted a system orientated on keeping the league. "It is a system which is set on defensive closure. Hertha would likely run into trouble with up-tempo football," said the paper. Still defensive midfielders Andreas Ottl and Peter Niemeyer are able to frustrate their opponents. The former Green-White Niemeyer scored against Dortmund to make it 2-0 and has played very well in Berlin. "He helped make sure they got promoted. Now he's playing strong in the midfield and doing a good job in his position," said Niemeyer's former head coach Thomas Schaaf.
Schaaf however will not let his team go unprepared onto the pitch. "We saw that they can push forward very quickly," said the coach. "Our past results did us well. We have achieved a bit in the development but we are still finding our way. We are working on making the team more consistent in many things," said Schaaf. "We are confident and want to play in a dominant manner. But I can only warn the players, it will be a hard bit of work," said manager Klaus Allofs.
