Werder Bremen fought back from a second half deficit a man down to earn a 2-2 draw at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 30th game day of the Bundesliga. The Green-Whites played the final 63 minutes with 10 men after Sebastian Boenisch was shown the red card. Markus Rosenberg gave Bremen the lead but watched as Mike Hanke scored twice for Gladbach before Naldo grabbed the equaliser for Werder.
Naldo and Boenisch in starting line-up
Werder coach Thomas Schaaf made two changes to his starting line-up with Naldo and Boenisch replacing Tom Trybull and Aleksandar Ignjovski. It was Boenisch's first action of the season. In front of a sold-out crowd of 42,100 at Weser Stadium, Gladbach had the better chances in the early going with Marco Reus shooting wide in the seventh minute and Lukas Schmitz headed away Roman Neustädter's shot in the 10th minute.

Rosenberg scores
The Green-Whites grabbed the lead after 18 minutes as Gladbach defender Dante misplayed a pass from Claudio Pizarro and Rosenberg looped the ball over an out-charging Gladbach keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to make it 1-0. But Werder went a man down after 27 minutes, as Boenisch was red-carded for taking down Herrmann as the last defender. The guests nearly evened the game in the 29th minute but Martin Stranzl hit the crossbar from a tight angle. And Werder went into the changing rooms ahead 1-0.
Hanke hits twice
Gladbach finally got on the scoreboard after 52 minutes, evening it 1-1 as Juan Arango passed the ball to Hanke, who turned and blasted his left footer off the far right post and in. Both ter Stegen (55th minute against Pizarro) and Bremen keeper Tim Wiese (65th vs Herrmann) kept the game even until Hanke struck again. Reus ran onto a long ball and crossed to Hanke, who had space to beat Wiese and give Gladbach the lead 2-1 after 66 minutes.
Naldo equalises
Bremen fought hard to knot the game and were rewarded in the 74th minute as Naldo nodded home Zlatko Junuzovic's free kick from the right side to make it 2-2. Gladbach had one more chance to grab the victory but Alexander Ring's shot in the 88th minute hit the crossbar. And Bremen secured an important point.
