Werder Bremen bounced back from their disappointing defeat last weekend to beat Stuttgart 2-0 at home on the 14th game day of the Bundesliga. Aaron Hunt and Naldo scored the goals for Thomas Schaaf's team, who are fourth in the league with 26 points.

Four changes

In front of 40,000 spectators at Weser Stadium, Schaaf made four changes to his line-up from 5-0 loss at Borussia Mönchengladbch with Sokratis missing the game with a suspension and Claudio Pizarro with an injured knee. Lukas Schmitz and Markus Rosenberg filled into for that pair. In addition, Marko Marin and Naldo started in favour of Mehmet Ekici and Sebastian Prödl.

Lots of chances

The Green-Whites needed some time to get into the game and had the first chance after 15 minutes. But Rosenberg could not beat Stuttgart keeper Sven Ulreich. Marko Arnautovic missed two one-on-one situations against Ulreich in the 23rd and 26th minutes. And then Bremen keeper Tim Wiese was called upon by stopping Tamas Hajnal's shot in the 40th minute and hitting away Serdar Tasci's header in the 41st minute. And the teams went into the changing room deadlocked at 0-0.

Hunt, Naldo score

Schaaf did not make any changes at the break and watched his team finally grab the lead in the 57th minute. Clemens Fritz passed into the run of Hunt, who beat Khalid Boulahrouz and then shot between the legs of Ulreich to make it 1-0. The Green-Whites scored again in the 67th minute as Naldo hammered home a free kick blast to make it 2-0. Naldo's shot went 108 kilometres per hour and was his first Bundesliga goal since February 13, 2010 and first goal for Bremen since February 25, 2010 in the Europa League. Sandro Wagner's header went wide left from two yards out as Bremen missed a chance to make it 3-0 in the 81st minute. And Stuttgart's Christian Gentner headed just wide right from seven yards out in an attempt to pull one back. And Bremen collected an important three points.
