Werder Bremen came up with a strong showing in notching an important 2-1 victory at Hoffnenheim on the fourth game day of the Bundesliga season. Roberto Firmino scored for the hosts before Marko Arnautovic and Markus Rosenberg tallied for Werder.

Bremen coach Thomas Schaaf made one change to his line-up with Arnautovic starting for Rosenberg with Claudio Pizarro as the second attacker. The 30,000 in Sinsheim saw the first chance in the first minute for the hosts though Firmino failed to convert for Hoffenheim. And Werder keeper Tim Wiese was forced into making a superb save just 120 seconds later on a strong attempt by Edson Braafheid.
Two goals in the first half
The Green-Whites struggled in the early going in trying to control the hosts and ended up falling behind 1-0 after 37 minutes. A free kick from the right side went to Firmino, who had plenty of space to turn and beat Wiese for the opening goal. But Werder answered right back and equalised just a minute later to make it 1-1. Lukas Schmitz sent a long ball towards the box where Hoffenheim defender Marvin Compper misplayed the ball and Arnautovic flicked a shot past an out-charging Hoffenheim keeper Tom Starke. And the game was dead-locked at 1-1 at the break.
Rosenberg scores winning goal
Werder came out of the changing room with more momentum but the first chance of the second half went to the guests but Wiese was able to stop Chinedu Obasi's volley attempt in the 52nd minute. The game was even thereafter and Schaaf subbed on Rosenberg for Arnautovic after 74 minutes. And the move paid off in the 83rd minute as he struck home Pizarro's cross to make it 2-1, giving Werder the victory and three important points.
