Even though the game between St. Pauli and Werder Bremen will not be a so-called "Ghost Game" without fans, there is the phantom of the relegation fight having over Millerntor Stadium for the sold-out game on Saturday 23 April 2011 at 3:30 p.m. Things are especially tight for the home club with four game days left as St. Pauli are 17th on the table with 29 points. The situation looks a bit better in Bremen as Thomas Schaaf's team has six more points to their credit. But a few more points would ease Green-White concerns and Werder will have the support of their fans as the entire contingent of 2,600 guest tickets was sold.

Captain Torsten Frings is relieved that the stands will not be empty

Atmosphere "like yesterday in Valencia"

"I am happy that we will have a normal game with spectators and that our fans also have the chance to take part in this game," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. And captain Torsten Frings added: "That is the right decision. It's a lot nicer having a really good atmosphere than a dead stadium. And the atmosphere will be really heated, and we cannot allow ourselves to get caught up in that." Manager Klaus Allofs expects something similar to the El Clásico weeks between Barcelona and the newly-crowned Spanish cup winners Real Madrid. "We can imagine how the atmosphere will be like, like yesterday in Valencia," said Allofs.

Biggest home win of the season in first half match

In the first half matchup, Werder won easily 3-0. And since then a long losing streak sent St. Pauli into the relegation zone. "They actually have played a lot better than what they got in results. If you look at the game in Wolfsburg, they played really well and had a lot of chances but just could not use them. And then they allowed the late goal. Even in Leverkusen they played very disciplined and motivated but did not get a point," said Schaaf. "Now they have the situation that the coach will be moving on. But I think that group is so tight that it will not influence them and have no effect on the game on Saturday," added Schaaf about the fact that Holger Stanislawski will leave St. Pauli after the season for Hoffenheim. The Hamburg native guided St. Pauli from the Regionalliga third division back to the top flight within three and a half years. "I think Stani did a good job with this team and you can see that," said Schaaf.
