Werder Bremen gave up a late goal to secure only a 1-1 draw in their away match at Eintracht Frankfurt on the 29th game day of the Bundesliga, extending their unbeaten streak to six games. Bremen's goal was an own goal by Frankfurt's Halil Altintop and Martin Fenin equalised the game with seven minutes remaining.

Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf did not make any changes to the starting line-up from the 1-1 draw last weekend against Stuttgart. Claudio Pizarro started the match on the bench but was already subbed on after 26 minutes for Denni Advic, who got injured in a challenge.

In an intensive and physical game, Werder had the first chance after nine minutes but Sandro Wagner struck only the right post with his blast from 17 yards. At the other end, Werder keeper Tim Wiese made a superb save on a chance by Theofanis Gekas. After that, both teams grew nervous and the game turned even more into a physical battle with very few highlights. And the contest went into the break deadlocked at 0-0.

Werder had the better start to the second half with a number of fine scenes. In the 58th minute Werder took the lead as Halil Altintop scored an own goal for a 1-0 Bremen advantage as he tried to clear a free kick in front of Wagner. Just four minutes later Wiese once again was tested but stopped another fine chance by Gekas as the Greek international was hoping to knot the game. Frankfurt pushed forward and finally equalised in the 83rd minute in beating Wiese for a 1-1 scoreline as Fenin headed a cross from the right side just inside the far left post. Wiese preserved at least one point for the Green-Whites with yet another superb stop against Gekas shortly after the equaliser.
