It was the second day in Blankenhain, the second session and once again there were changes with Werder personnel. While Özkan Yildirim made his comeback to training after a three-week break, Zlatko Junuzovic is close to coming back after individual sessions and Assani Lukimya had to leave training early. Not on the pitch for training were Aaron Hunt and Tom Trybull, who worked out on the bike.
"I was able to do everything well. I still sense a bit of slight pain, but that is also normal. The knee is holding up and that is the most important thing," said Ötzi after his return Sunday morning. The 20-year-old would like to get top-fit as quickly as possible. Therefore he put in an extra session the day before to make good his conditioning deficit bit by bit.
Shortly before the end of the first of two training sessions, head coach Robin Dutt sent his defender Lukimya from the pitch because of slight adductors problems. "Before anything worse happens, I decided to take him out," said Dutt, who added it was solely a precautionary measure. ‘Luki' could possibly work out again with Junuzovic as Werder's Austrian international practiced individually in the morning. Junuzovic is expected to return Monday to training. And Dutt said Hunt could be back "soon".
