Werder youngster Johannes Wurtz is currently labouring under tendon inflammation in the sole of his foot and cannot take part in training. The 20-year-old started experiencing pain during the test match against Braunschweig. He remained in the changing room at half-time of the match out of precautionary reasons and hasn't trained since. "It's getting better day by day," said the German U20 international.
Wurtz himself expects to return to team training in the next couple days. "At the moment, I am receiving various treatments in the mornings and keeping fit in the afternoons in the weight room or swimming pool," said Wurtz. "I hope that I can take part in training again regularly soon." The striker has been nominated for the Bundesliga squad for two matches - against Hoffenheim and Leverkusen - but has not entered a match. Wurtz has scored 12 goals as the leading scorer for Werder's U23 team in the Regionalliga league.
