After the decision on who will be Werder's top keeper going into the second half of the season, Raphael Wolf expressed his happiness while Sebastian Mielitz was disappointed. Head coach Robin Dutt decided on Monday that Wolf will remain the Green-Whites' number one keeper.

"This is a decision at the end of a long process which began four match days before the end of the first half. We consciously heated up the competitive battle. Both really were superb in dealing with it. It was our hope that they push each other and they did that. In the end, we decided in favour of Raphael Wolf. It was really tight and it wasn't easy from a personal point of view. But we are all convinced that the decision is the right one," said Dutt after Werder's afternoon training.

Wolf was happy about receiving the trust of the coaching staff. "I am really just happy about being able to stand between the posts for Werder Bremen in the second half," said the 25-year-old about the decision, which was communicated individually to both Wolf and Mielitz. "It was a very intense and good talk. We talked longer than I had expected. They listed the things the coach valued," described Wolf. "Of course I had hoped that the coaching staff would decide for me. But I was also relaxed in the last few days and had a good feeling. And that was confirmed today."

Mielitz logically was disappointed with the decision. "I came to Werder at 15, 16 years old, have gone through all the teams since the U17s, fought my way through and realised my dream of being the number one in the club. Now the coaching staff decided that Raphael Wolf will remain in goal. I could not really understand the decision and am naturally disappointed and sad," said Mielitz, who does not want to give up. "I know that I am a good goalkeeper and I will accept it professionally and will continue to give everything for the club."
