It was the decisive scene of the last home match against Hoffenheim. The Green-Whites had shortly beforehand taken the lead 2-1 when Sejad Salihovie stepped up to take a penalty against Raphael Wolf in the 86th minute. All of Weser Stadium was focused on the showdown between Hoffenheim's set piece specialist and Werder's number one. In the end, Wolf left the pitch the winner, stopping the spot kick and Werder eventually secured a very important 3-1 victory.

"You always try to recall the best memories of the next opponent when you prepare, to have the thoughts you need," said the 26-year-old keeper looking back at the stopped penalty. Wolf knows of course that the focus since the beginning of the week is on the here and now. "We are preparing intensively for the match, I am doing the same. I am watching the set pieces so that I know what the shooters like to do."

Shine in front of home fans

Wolf cannot just be ready for dangerous set piece situations on Saturday. Wolf, Junuzovic and Co. will have to give their best to slow down the whole Hoffenheim attack. "Hoffenheim have a good offence. If you look at last year, they did concede a lot of goals but they also scored a lot of goals. I think it will be an interesting match and am looking forward to it," said Wolf, who made his debut in a 4-4 draw at Hoffenheim.

The numerous Werder fans will certainly be expecting an interesting match as well as they - just like Raphael Wolf - look forward to the first match of the new season at Weser Stadium. "I can't wait for the first home match. There is always a special atmosphere in Bremen because we have a great stadium and super fans," said Wolf, who hopes to help his teammates to become a strong team at home. "We want to play more stable in general. We want to collect as many points as possible, especially in our own stadium with our fans behind us."
