Werder striker Franco Di Santo will not play for Argentina in three weeks at the World Cup in Brazil. National team coach Alejandro Sabella reduced his provisional roster for the World Cup, cutting the 25-year-old Green-White and three other players. "Still, I am very happy. It's a huge thing to be among the best 30 players of your home country. I am thankful to have been able to get this experience," said Di Santo.
For the striker, who has earned three caps for the Albiceleste thus far, the nomination was a "valuable sign". "I am proud to have been nominated in the provisional roster. I will continue to work hard to get back there again. Now I hope that the team goes far and am really crossing my fingers for the guys," said Di Santo. Werder and Di Santo will begin training for the 2014-15 season on 26 June.
