The airplane bringing the Green-Whites to the training camp in Belek, Turkey took off punctually at 9 a.m. The Werder group will spend eight days in their headquarters along the Turkish Riviera. Not on board was Aaron Hunt as the 25-year-old was dealing with an adductors injury and was replaced by Felix Kroos at the last minute.

Brazilian defender Naldo provided for his share of conversation topics after publicly is flirting with a transfer to his homeland. "Fundamentally, no player is not for sale. It's part of our job to intensively look at every offer given us. That is not the case with Naldo because there is no offer for him at the moment," said manager Klaus Allofs at Bremen airport shortly before departure. "Naldo came to me in December and told me that an offer would come in soon for him. I can understand him if he is thinking about it since Brazil is his home and that would improve his chances for the national team - especially for the 2014 World Cup. I talked to him and Naldo knows that we are not interested in giving him up."

After landing in Belek, head coach Thomas Schaaf will ask his team to gather for an additional training session before the first of three test matches takes place on Saturday 7 January 2012. The opponent at the WOW Sportcenter in Kundu (kickoff 2 p.m. Bremen time) is Uzbekistani club Pakhtakor Tashkent.
