Claudio Pizarro's knee was "okay" Thursday afternoon and it was even better Friday 2 December 2011 after the final training. After returning to team training, Pizarro is once again an option for head coach Thomas Schaaf for the game against Bayern Munich (live ticker starting at 3:15 p.m. on WERDER.DE). "Despite his injury, Claudio was able to work out individually therefore he didn't lose that much in substance," said the Werder coach after the final session before the North-South showdown.
Mehmet Ekici, however, will not be able to make the trip to his former home city. The 21-year-old got injured in training Friday and had to leave early. Another player to be absent in Munich is Tim Wiese due to a death in his family with Sebastian Mielitz filling in between the posts. "We have 100 percent faith in his performances. He is a very motivated goalkeeper who always gives his all. He has always stopped shots well whenever he plays. I am not worried at all," said captain Clemens Fritz about the 22-year-old glovesman. Mielitz will be playing his fifth Bundesliga match this season.
Schaaf nominated the following 18 players for the Bundesliga away match in Munich: Mielitz, Vander, Naldo, Fritz, Wolf, Sokratis, Prödl, Schmitz, Bargfrede, Wesley, Ignjovski, Hunt, Marin, Trinks, Rosenberg, Arnautovic, Wagner, Pizarro
