Werder Bremen keeper Tim Wiese was suspended for three Bundesliga matches Monday morning by the sports court of German Football Federation (DFB) in a single judge ruling for his unsportsmanlike behaviour during the match against Nuremberg.
Werder Bremen and Tim Wiese have accepted the ruling. "The punishment correlates with the usual jurisdiction by the DFB. We don't see any reason to go against the ruling," said Werder manager Klaus Allofs.
In the 17th minute of the game at Nuremberg's easyCredit Stadium, Wiese took down Christian Eigler after he had lost the ball to the striker, prompting referee Jochen Drees to show Wiese the red card.
The German international keeper will miss the Green-Whites' games against Hertha Berlin (Sun, 25 Sept 2011), at Hannover (Sun, 02 Oct 2011) and Borussia Dortmund (Fri 14 Oct 2011).
