Theofanis Gekas likely didn't sleep too well after this game as the Eintracht striker probably faced Tim Wiese a number of times in his nightmares. The Werder keeper got the best of the Greek international in four one-on-one situations Friday night, likely driving Gekas a bit mad with his saves. "When a striker gets the ball in that position then the probability is high that he will score," said Werder manager Klaus Allofs. "But Tim Wiese is known for doing a good job in such situations. He puts the pressure on the opposing striker with his moves. And he did an extraordinary job today," praised Allofs the German international glovesman. Head coach Thomas Schaaf also was full of praise for his keeper. "We saw a great Tim Wiese today. He fended off a number of chances."

The keeper himself approached the journalists afterwards in the catacombs of Commerzbank Arena even-tempered and modest. "That was one of my better matches this season," admitted the keeper, who also grinned when adding: "But we have been doing a good job defensively recently. In the second half of the season I haven't had a chance to really excel. We allowed a number of chances so I had to jump in there." Wiese added: "The adrenaline gets pumping with the fans behind you. But you really don't think about anything special. You just try to hold your own." The 29-year-old Wiese did more than just hold his own, making four superb stops against the Greek international Gekas in the 12th, 62nd, 64th and 86th minutes, securing the Green-Whites their sixth straight match without a defeat.
