Tim Wiese could be playing a home match for Germany after the Werder Bremen keeper was nominated for Germany's 22-man roster by head coach Joachim Löw on Wednesday 22 February 2012. "If you are nominated you don't get a call. You only get a call when you're not nominated," said Wiese after Wednesday morning's training. The call luckily didn't come, instead an official email shortly after 11 a.m. Werder's keeper will be on hand for Germany's test match against France next Wednesday 29 February 2012 at 8:45 p.m. at Bremen's Weser Stadium.
"Of course we hope that he plays and makes an appearance. But the national team coach will make that decision. But it would be a shame," said Werder head coach Thomas Schaaf about a possible appearance by his keeper.
Since Ron-Robert Zieler, who made his debut on 11 November 2011 in the 3-3 draw in Ukraine, was not nominated, Löw will decide between Manuel Neuer and Wiese. "I assume that I will play," said Wiese optimistically. In the end, only Löw knows if the 30-year-old Green-White glovesman will play or not. But certain is that the German national team will play in Weser Stadium for the 10th time, the last match coming on 7 September 2005 against South Africa with Tim Borowski scoring in the game.
