As the Werder players headed towards the changing room Tuesday afternoon they were met by teammate Wesley at the entryway of Weser Stadium. With his usual big smile, the Brazilian also had a bit of an envious look for his teammates after the intensive training session. That is exactly what Wesley cannot do at the moment. The 1.77m midfielder is currently limited to individual training sessions in the catacombs of the stadium.
"I am currently doing a lot of strength and muscle drills and preparing for the running training," said the Brazilian, who hopes to return to the pitch in two weeks. "I am very impatient and can hardly wait to help the team so that we improve our situation as soon as possible," said the 23-year-old Wesley.
Dominik Schmidt and Tim Borowski hope to make a quicker return than Wesley. While Borowski wants to return to the pitch this week after his ankle problems, Schmidt must be a bit more patient. "I will definitely not be fit before the next game in Cologne. The healing process is going very well for a torn muscle fibre," said the 23-year-old Schmidt, who could return to the Green-Whites game squad at the earliest against Bayern Munich. Daniel Jensen has been battling a knee problem and assistant coach Wolfgang Rolff said "we'll have to see how it goes" with the Danish international.
