SV Werder Bremen and young professional Marnon Busch have extended their contract for three years until 30 June 2018. The 19-year-old defender and Werder's manager of sports Thomas Eichin agreed to the deal on Thursday.
"We are happy that we are able to lock up another player long term who has gone through our Werder academy and showcased himself. These are the first fruits of our collective labour between our performance academy and the professional team. Marnon has a good chance to establish himself in the professional team if his development continues so rapidly," said Eichin.
Busch celebrated his Bundesliga debut in the match last weekend against Hertha Berlin. The 19-year-old was brought in at the 85-minute mark of the 2-2 draw. Busch, who came to Werder from TuS Güldenstern/Stade in 2007, made his professional debut in the German Cup match last week against FV Illertissen. He had gotten himself noticed through some strong performances in the training camp in Zell am Ziller and in the summer's test matches. Busch played 33 matches in each of the last two seasons for Werder's U23 team.
