Saturday morning, 7:30 a.m. Bremen Airport. This was the start of the 10 hardest days of this year's season preparations for the Werder players - the training camp in Zillertal, Austria. The motto for the Green-Whites for the next week and a half is to tighten the team's structure, complete two test matches and run, run and run.
Compared to the WERDER BREMEN CHINA TOUR 2014 and all the sponsorship meetings, the training camp in Zillertal will be about one thing for Bargfrede, Hajrovic and Co. - the sports side of things. In Austria, head coach Robin Dutt, who will not join the team until getting to Zillertal like some of the players, wants to lay the foundation for the coming season. It's a time where the players traditionally sweat quite a lot. "There will certainly be a lot of hard training sessions and a strenuous week. That is part of the preparations. I am especially looking forward to the two test matches against Innsbruck and Bilbao," said Izet Hajrovic about his first week in Werder kit.
While it will be the new acquisition's first time in Zillertal, Dutt and his coaching staff already know the perfect conditions. The Werder coach will have his team take the pitch at Park Stadium at 3:30 p.m. for the first test. It's safe to say what the first training session on Austrian soil will entail - running, running and running.
