SV Werder headed off for their training camp in Belek Tuesday morning, leaving from Bremen Airport at 9 a.m. on partner airline Onur Air to Turkey. Head coach Viktor Skripnik's team will work there on laying the groundwork for a successful second half of the season. And the coach promised as much before leaving: "It will be eight intensive days."

For the coming 10 days, the Regnum Carya Resort in Belek will be home for the Green-Whites. The Werder players will begin the near one-month preparations for the second half on the training grounds located on the hotel property. "Basically there are three training sessions planned per day. In addition there will be three test matches. How intensive the individual sessions will be running-wise will depend a little bit on the results of the lactate tests and how good the guys work. But regardless, it will be eight intensive days," said the Werder coach.

Not on board will be Sebastian Prödl and Ludovic Obraniak. While Prödl will remain in Germany to rehab his knee ligament injury, there's another reason for Obraniak's absence. "We have clearly said that we wouldn't stand in the way of any player if another opportunity comes up. That may happen for Ludovic. That's why he's not here now, but he will arrive in two or three days," said Werder manager of sport Thomas Eichin.

The following players traveled to the training camp: Raphael Wolf, Richard Strebinger - Santiago Garcia, Luca Caldirola, Alejandro Gálvez, Assani Lukimya, Clemens Fritz, Franco Di Santo, Levin Öztunali, Izet Hajrovic, Zlatko Junuzovic, Felix Kroos, Luca Zander, Levent Aycicek, Fin Bartels, Theodor Gebre Selassie, Oliver Hüsing, Davie Selke, Melvyn Lorenzen, Maximilian Eggestein, Janek Sternberg, Marnon Busch, Philipp Bargfrede, Lukas Fröde, Maik Lukowicz
