Werder Bremen have come up with a fine success with their official Facebook presence. About three weeks after the Green-Whites' presence on the Social Media platform passed the 200,000 fans mark, there was a pleasant surprise Wednesday morning. In a worldwide football ranking done by the Portuguese magazine Futebol Finance, Werder Bremen moved into the Top 30 ahead of big name clubs such as Juventus Turin, Girondins Bordeaux, FC Sao Paulo, AS Roma and Newcastle United for 29th place.
"Motivation to push forward even more"
"The fact that we are so far up the worldwide rankings is a great success for us and especially for our fans. Werder is a strong community. In addition, it's a big motivation to continue the work of our supporters and push ourselves even more in the coming years," said media director Tino Polster.
The list is headed by Spanish top club FC Barcelona with nearly 14 million users. English powers Manchester United are second (12.9 million) followed by Spanish record champions Real Madrid (12.8 million). The best German club is Bayern Munich with nearly 1.3 million Facebook fans for 11th place.
