After a nearly 25-hour trip with stopovers in Istanbul and Beijing, the Green-Whites delegation landed in Changchun on Tuesday 1 July 2014 at 9:15 p.m. local time (3:15 p.m. Bremen time). It was the first destination of the WERDER BREMEN CHINA TOUR 2014.
Bartels, Kroos and Co. were greeted and given presents by Asian Werder fans at the airport of the metropolis. They received fans with Chinese lettering on them, which were translated into "Werder Bremen" and "Be thrifty and become rich". And Monica Chen proved that Green-Whites blood also flows through veins in China. The 21-year-old had her own present for the Werder players. She has been a Werder supports since the double season of 2003-04 but had never personally met any of the players. Still, Chen internalised the motto "Lebenslang Grün-Weiß" (Lifelong Green-White). So much so that she even was able to sing the song by the same name almost without mistakes during the flight from Beijing to Changchun. It's hardly a surprise that Monica Chen is using part of her semester break to accompany Werder on the trip. But she will not be alone as a group of Werder fans provided a warm welcome at the airport in Changchun.
Robin Dutt's team will have their first training in the Far East Wednesday morning 2 July 2014 at 10 a.m. local time (4 a.m. Bremen time). In the evening they will play a test match against Changchun Yatai (7:30 p.m. local time/1:30 p.m. Bremen time //Live on WERDER.TV).
