SV Werder have started their preparations for the second half of the Bundesliga in Belek. After arriving at the Regnum Carya team hotel, the players and coaching staff went out to the training grounds. In a good one-hour first training, the 26 players got a chance to build an opinion about the quality of the facilities.
Head coach Viktor Skripnik said he was satisfied with the conditions. "Just like we expected, we have very good conditions. The pitch seems pretty good, the weather is okay. It is actually a little cool and windy, but that's part of it all. The hotel is also super, but we are not here to relax," said the Werder coach.
Rightback Luca Zander and Franco Di Santo both only went through individual training at the start of the Belek trip. Whether or not and when the players are able to return to team training depends on how they deal with the burden of the coming sessions. "We don't want to take any unnecessary risks and would rather be more cautious. Not that we would have to be without them for a longer time," said Skripnik. Di Santo offered up some positive news. "The knee didn't give me any problems today or yesterday with the lactate test. I hope that the development continues in the coming days," said Di Santo.
