Werder have gone five games without a loss. That goes back to fewer injuries as well as a team that's starting to play much better together. Still, head coach Robin Dutt refused to hand out any guarantees for a starting spot for the up-coming match against Freiburg (Friday, 8:30 p.m.).
"We were not as satisfied with the last match against Stuttgart as with the matches prior to that. That could lead to changes in the starting formation," said Werder's coach at the official press conference on Thursday.
Santiago Garcia is the only Green-Whites player who is out injured for Werder. The daily battles on the Weser Stadium training grounds are accordingly intense. Despite Dutt putting out the same starting line-up in the last two matches against Nuremberg and Stuttgart, the first XI is not set in stone for the coach. "It depends on tactical details, a good training form as well as small details. That's how I will decide who plays and who doesn't," said the Werder coach.
"Two changes are always possible," said Dutt. But the coach would not disclose which at positions those might come. If and which changes are made will be not be seen until Friday.
