It's going to be the biggest jersey swap in Werder history. When Werder's preparation starts on Wednesday 29 June 2011, the Green-Whites' new jersey will be presented and it will be in the focus of attention. An extraordinary campaign will help Werder Bremen and their fans to make the new kit known throughout the world. Similar to the Olympic torch rally, the new NIKE jersey will be sent on the road with the fans from 29 June 2011 until the first Bundesliga home match. The "Werder jersey on tour" will take a designated route with stops in the training camps in Norderney, Erfurt and Donaueschingen; the homes of Werder partners Dodenhof in Posthausen or Volkswagen in Wolfsburg; as well as test match sites in Freiburg, Leer and Chemnitz; in addition to highlights such as Day of the Fans at Weser Stadium (24 July 2011). It will be handed over in extraordinary locations such as Brandenburg Gate, Schaffhausen am Rheinfall, the Alster in Hamburg or the Cologne Dom cathedral.

"We support this extraordinary form of jersey presentation because we want to show the WE feeling even before the season. The Werder fans for years have been among the best and mainly the best-travelling supporters in Germany, I am certain that the campaign will have a response," said Julia Ebert, the head of fans and membership support for Werder.

Everyone who wants to be part of this unique project can register for a certain section on the specially designed Facebook application at www.facebook.com/werderbremen. All non-motorised methods of transport are allowed such as foot, skateboard or bike. It's this easy: Just register on Werder's Facebook page, select a certain segment, make a reservation and take over the jersey at the determined time and pass it on. The jersey will be on the road for about six weeks and will be carried by fans from nearly every corner of the country. Werder Bremen will report intensively online about the biggest jersey swap in club history and inform readers about the current location of the jersey at www.facebook.com/werderbremen. The final destination is Weser Stadium, where the Werder players will welcome it for the first home match.

The NIKE jersey will be presented at the start of training on 29 June 2011 in Bremen. It will cost 74.95 euro. "We are required to follow the price recommendation of our outfitter this year due to the higher commodity prices even though we are not happy about it," said manager Klaus Filbry. "We cannot succumb to the market pressure and are offering therefore the jerseys at prices from other competitors. But to cushion it for our fans, we have decided to lower the price for flocking of the numbers on the back."

When the Werder jersey returns to Weser Stadium for the first Bundesliga home match, it will have travelled more than 2,000 kilometres. And it will hopefully accompany Werder on a successful season.
