Naldo, Claudio Pizarro and Sebastian Prödl are on the way to full recovery. Along with Onur Ayik, the trio completed an individual training session after they had missed the test match against Carl Zeiss Jena and have not been able to train with the team since the beginning of the week.
Naldo had back problems, just like before the final match of the Bundesliga season against Schalke. "I still had pain in the past couple days, but today it was much better. Now I will talk to the doctor. It looks as though I could be on hand on Sunday in Lohne," said the Brazilian after the session.
Teammate Prödl had been in bed the past few days with the flu. "I trained today to slowly get back into it. But I am doing a lot better. I feel fit again. There is no reason I shouldn't be able to play against the Vechta selection team. But maybe 90 minutes would be too much," said the Austrian.
While Ayik, Pizarro, Prödl and Naldo worked with physiotherapist Florian Lauerer, head coach Thomas Schaaf had 14 players available for team training as Aleksandar Ignjovski and Aaron Hunt were missing. "Aaron is being examined," said Schaaf, who played with his team himself on Friday. Levent Aycicek had to leave training early, limping with knee problems. An exact diagnosis was still to come.
