Werder are playing well. They are fighting, are creating chances and are scoring goals. But one thing that Werder are not doing often enough in the 2012-13 season is winning three points on the road. The Green-Whites' 2-1 loss at Schalke 04 on the 11th game day was a repeat of this and a healthy dose of aggravation. "We have experienced this kind of match too often this season. We play well but cannot get anything useful from our efforts in the end. Once again we were not rewarded for our effort. That is our problem and we don't like it," said head coach Thomas Schaaf after 90 minutes in which the Green-Whites were the better team over major stretches.

WERDER.DE collected reaction from the match.

Nils Petersen:
"The loss is especially aggravating. We showed a very good performance against a top team but could not take away any points again - it's getting old. We had big intentions today and absolutely wanted to take something out of this game. But we were missing the last bit and that means the points."

Thomas Schaaf:
"We didn't watch out in the first minute. But then we controlled the match and did not allow Schalke any chances until their goal and created a number of chances for ourselves. But we missed the chance to add on. Instead, we made unnecessary mistakes and conceded the goal out of the blue. Then we didn't finish off our actions."

Klaus Allofs:
"This defeat is absolutely aggravating because it was absolutely unnecessary. I see two reasons for it. When I think about Kevin De Bruyne running onto the goal on his own but it was called off and on the challenge which led to the free kick to make it 1-1, the referee was not always right with his decisions and we made too many mistakes. And you cannot make too many mistakes in a match like this."

Aaron Hunt:
"This defeat really hurts because we played a good match. We are really aggravated because it was bitter how we conceded the goals. It was just bad and we helped build up Schalke. Up until their first goal, they couldn't find any means against us."
