The Austrian national team faced off with Romania Tuesday night in the second test match, but Marcel Koller's team played to only a 0-0 draw. Just like in their 3-2 victory over Euro 2012 co-hosts Ukraine last Friday, Zlatko Junuzovic and Marko Arnautovic were in the starting line-up for the Austrians.
Sebastian Prödl was unable to showcase his skills as he sat on the bench for 90 minutes in front of the 12,500 spectators. "The coach wanted to give other players a chance to prove themselves. That's why I sat out of the game. That was totally okay for me," said Prödl after the game.
The second test meant the end of the time with the Austrian national team, meaning Junuzovic, Arnautovic and Prödl could finally head into holidays. "I will stay in Austria for now and then I will spontaneously head to the sea," said Prödl. The three Green-Whites will kick off their 2012-13 season preparations with Werder on 5 July 2012.
In the showdown between Sweden and Serbia - in which Werder players Markus Rosenberg and Aleksandar Ignjovski were due to face off - "Iggy" was the only Werder player who played, appearing for 63 minutes in Stockholm. But the all-arounder could not stop the Serbs from losing 2-1. The goals from Tre Kronor were scored by Toivonen (23rd) and Zlatko Ibrahimovic (52nd) while Dortmund's Subotic (27th) made it 1-1.
The Swedes were playing their final test before the start of the Euro 2012. On Monday, Rosenberg and co. start their tournament against co-hosts Ukraine.
