Werder Bremen will have to be patient regarding Claudio Pizarro in the build-up to their Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund. The best foreign-born scorer in league history will not arrive in Bremen until Thursday evening after two World Cup 2014 qualification matches in South America in which he played a full 90 minutes in both games for Peru. Pizarro will be the last international to return from national team duty for Werder. "With regard to Claudio, the game on Friday night doesn't fit in at all," said Bremen head coach Thomas Schaaf at the official press conference.
"We talked on the phone a number of times the last couple of days. He knows that he has a lot of responsibility and is thinking about how he can best deal with the situation," said Schaaf, who is relying on his striker's experience. "This is nothing new for Claudio. He has done it for years. He knows that he cannot just shrug off this stress and that he needs to find his peace and quiet." Relaxation will be the most important thing for "Piza" in the some 24 hours before kickoff against the reigning champs. "The most important thing is that he uses the time to regenerate so that he is fit in time for the game," said Schaaf. "But of course it is not easy for him when you have had this kind of trip and know that the expectations are there that he returns top fit."
