Striker Sandro Wagner will be shooting for goals starting immediately for Hertha Berlin, as Werder manager Klaus Allofs confirmed Thursday evening. The Werder player, who was on loan last season with Kaiserslautern, signed on a two-year contract with the second division team in the German capital.

Wagner returned along the Weser for the start of training in early July but didn't play any role in head coach Thomas Schaaf's plans. And the 24-year-old attacker was keeping fit with Werder's U23s while the search went on for a new club.

Wagner completed one training session in the preparations for the 2012-13 season with the Green-Whites. Thereafter he worked with Werder's U23s. Wagner started his professional career with Bayern Munich. In the winter of 2010, he moved from MSV Duisburg to the Weser and began playing for the U23s with Werder. In the second half of the 2009-10 season, the striker scored three goals in seven matches. Wagner appeared in 23 Bundesliga matches for Werder in the 2010-11 season, scoring five goals in addition to three matches in the Champions League and one each in the Champions League qualification and the German DFB Cup. In the second half of last season, Wagner was on loan with Kaiserslautern.
