For cars fans, the view of the parking lot of Weser Stadium Wednesday afternoon was like the land of milk and honey. There were rows of brand new Volkswagen automobiles ready for the picking for Werder Bremen players and officials. Shortly before the start of the 2011-12 Bundesliga season, Werder's mobility and commercial partner Volkswagen made available their exclusive fleet. Among the selected models were Touareg, Touareg Hybrid, Phaeton, Sharan, Tiguan, Touran, Passat CC, EOS Passat Variant, Scirocco as well as the Golf GTI, Golf GTD and Golf R.
Members of the Green-Whites were accordingly excited about the transfer. "It's something special that we are given access to a car from Volkswagen," said Clemens Fritz, who had an easy decision. "It's already the fourth time and I have always decided for a Touareg because I am absolutely thrilled with the car. So I have kept up-to-date with the development of the cars and VW has improved some things every year, making it better each time."
Thomas Schaaf agreed with Fritz. "I have remained loyal to my model because I know that I am well equipped with it. During the driving safety training in Nohra as part of our stay in Erfurt we were able to test the cars in different situations. The Touareg is very, very safe, offers me a variety of options - from driving fast to a bit of off-road. And you have a very good seating position from which you have a good overview," said the coach.
