Denni Avdic is a member of Werder Bremen since yesterday but the Swedish international striker was officially introduced this afternoon in the Green-Whites' team hotel at their training camp. "We are happy that we can present a new player in Denni," said a pleased Werder manager Klaus Allofs about the newest winter acquisition. "We have watched him the last few months and he is a player who fits into our philosophy. He is a young player at the beginning of his development who can continue to develop at Werder," said Allofs.
"The first couple days have been really strenuous but I am overjoyed to be with Werder," said Avdic, who decided for Bremen over a number of other offers. "In the end it was an easy decision. The Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world and I believe that my way of playing fits in here." Avdic has not seen much of his new home city, "but I liked what I saw with my girlfriend. I believe it won't be a problem at all to settle in and feel comfortable."
After Avdic completed the lactate test Monday morning, his first session on the training grounds followed Tuesday morning. "It was not a simple training but it was nice to stand on the pitch and wear the Werder training shirt," said the satisfied Swedish striker with Bosnian roots. Head coach Thomas Schaaf was also satisfied. "You could already see today his qualities. He likes going to the goal and is hungry to score and you can play with him. He will continue to develop and is a player who will help us," said Schaaf, who also warned against too high of expectations. "Of course you have to give him time because he will have to get used to the tempo and our style of play," said the coach. Allofs also said fans must be patient. "We didn't bring Denni in as a saviour who will alone shoot us out of the difficult situation," said the manager. "He will bring in his skills and can continue to develop with us."
