One day before departure to the training camp, youth talents Julian von Haacke and Martin Kobylanski signed on professional contracts. With their signatures, both players had a dream come true. "This is really something special, a step in the right direction," said von Haacke, who added: "We also know that it can go back down just as quickly as it went up." Kobylanski was also modest in reaction to the contract. "We want to fully concentrate on the task at hand and that is football. Not that much changed with the professional contract. We are still young players and still have to carry the balls after training," Kobylanski.
There wasn't much time to be happy about the new work papers. Both want to use the remaining time at training camp in Jerez de la Frontera to showcase themselves. "We are training daily with players who have already played a lot of Bundesliga matches. We as young players can only profit from that," said Kobylanski. "We want to take everything we can from this training camp, also the muscle aches," added von Haacke with a grin.
Being a professional is something special for the Bremen native von Haacke. "I am from down the road, all of Bremen is for Werder. So you automatically support this club growing up. Besides, my father is a total football fan. He brought me to Weser Stadium when I was a youngster. The fact that I, as a Bremen native from right here, have the chance to be so close and experience everything is truly extraordinary."
Von Haacke is at the beginning of possibly a big career. And the midfielder is aware of that. "I know that I still have to work on myself, especially on my body. For that I will be hitting the weight room before and after training. But I also need to be quicker pushing forward," reflected von Haacke. Head coach Robin Dutt thinks highly of the young midfielder. "In the first half year that I've been here, he's shown an incredible understanding of the game and I hope that he can break through with us," said the coach. Dutt also praised Kobylanski. "Martin moves very well in space and pushes well towards the goal," said the coach. Werder fans got a look for themselves in the North Derby against Hamburg as the 19-year-old started in his debut on the game squad. One thing appears certain, you will be hearing from both players in the future.
