Werder Bremen led 2-0 at half-time but could not finish the job and failed to win, playing to a 2-2 draw at home against VfB Stuttgart. And the Green-Whites' reactions were understandable. "You can only praise the team for the first half, they don't deserve any praise for the second half," said manager Klaus Allofs after the match. "In the first half, we did a very good job, we scored our goals. After that we didn't hold our own anymore, especially in the backline. After leading 2-0 we didn't play as sure of ourselves. Then we come out of the half-time break and four minutes later it's 2-1. That cannot happen," said Allofs.

Many other Werder team members were disappointed as well and WERDER.DE collected their reactions after the game:

Nils Petersen: "We have to analyse that. The two halves were really not that different. Stuttgart had a few chances in the first half. The result kind of covered that up. But we shouldn't make it out to be so bad today. VfB have a good team. They don't deserve to be done there in the standings."

Marko Arnautovic: "I have no idea why it wasn't enough today. In the end, we probably beat ourselves. Certainly, we should have brought home that game after leading 2-0. The 2-1 goal can happen. But we were very unlucky with the equaliser. Still, we had enough chances to win the game. We did a good job up until the box but then could not finish things. If we can improve on that in the coming matches then I am confident that we will score a lot of goals."

Thomas Schaaf: "The end was very hectic and turbulent. After building the 2-0 lead, we naturally had hoped for something different. But we don't have the calm and the necessary certainty. We must work on that. We pulled back a bit and gave Stuttgart chances. At the other end, we took too many risks with the chances that we had. We never reached the last level with our counter attacks, we kept losing the balls too early."

Zlatko Junuzovic: "We just couldn't create any more pressure. We just didn't push forward any more. Then you concede a goal after four minutes and then you realise it's going to be a very tough match. But we blacked out at times in the second half and at times did not play consistent enough. This match is a lesson for us."
