Werder Bremen are not happy with their results thus far this season. The Green-Whites have collected just three points despite strong showings in all three Bundesliga matches. Werder hope to change that on Sunday against VfB Stuttgart. "A victory would do us well. We want to have more points," said head coach Thomas Schaaf. The coach would like to see his team rewarded for its fine performances so far this season. But who will get the call against Stuttgart? Schaaf has his entire contingent of players available for the North-South classic. "Every player will be needed this season, everyone knows that. We have good competition within the team. There is a high level. But we also have no time to relax. We have to maintain this level," said Schaaf at the official press conference on Friday.

Werder drew a group of photographers at the afternoon training on Friday.

Werder are using every training session this week, every weight training drill and every tactical instruction to get the very most out of their second home match of the 2012-13 season. "It's important for me to see that the team continues to work with the same passion, ambition and excitement that they have displayed in the last few weeks. We cannot let up against Stuttgart. We have to remain alert and be aware," said the 51-year-old coach.

Schaaf could not say if Mehmet Ekici would be available for the Stuttgart match after the midfielder missed some time in training this week. "I don't know how Memo overcame his flu bug and if he can be on hand against Stuttgart," said a non-committal Schaaf. The coach will definitely have some tough choices to make when he nominates his 18-man roster following the final training on Saturday 22 September 2012 at 3 p.m.
