Werder President Dr. Hubertus Hess-Grunewald will also follow in the footsteps of long-time manager Klaus-Dieter Fischer in the board of directors of the SV Werder Bremen GmbH & Co KG aA. The Sport-Verein "Werder" von 1899 e.V. executive board unanimously elected Dr. Hess-Grunewald for the next four years. The 54-year-old will take over from Fischer the management sections performance academy, women's football, football school, social commitment and other sports starting on 1 January 2015. In the Werder executive board trio, Dr. Hess-Grunewald will work with the manager for marketing, management and finances Klaus Filbry, who is the chairman of the board; as well as manager of sport Thomas Eichin.
"I am happy that the presidium colleagues gave me this convincing vote of confidence. Just like in the election as president, I will take over a very well-run department from Klaus-Dieter Fischer, one in which I would like to cultivate with my own impulses," said Dr. Hess-Grunewald about the challenge. The legal expert, who will be giving up his law firm for the work with Werder, was a long-time board member of the football department and has been a member of the supervisory board since 1999 and vice chairman since 2005.
SV Werder leaders made another important personnel decision Tuesday night, unanimously naming the OHB AG executive board chairman Marco Fuchs to the Green-Whites' supervisory board. The 52-year-old, who has been part of the executive of the astronautics company since 2000, is looking forward to the "affair of the heart". "It is truly an honour to be chosen by the club for this job," said Fuchs, who will start on 1 January 2015 and take over the position of Dr. Hess-Grunewald at least until the end of the legislative period in 2016.
