Florian Trinks was in the starting line-up for the first time this season last weekend, showing a good performance in the 4-1 victory over Wolfsburg. And the youngster earned belated praise from his coach Thursday 15 December 2011 at the press conference ahead of the Schalke match. "I am happy for Florian that he rewarded himself with such a showing; that he never gave up and fought long for his spot," said Thomas Schaaf about the 19-year-old Trinks, who on Thursday went through an extra goal shooting training with Sandro Wagner and Lennart Thy. Trinks hopes to make an appearance this weekend at Schalke.

Another playmaker finally returned to the team circle Thursday afternoon as Marko Marin was back at training. "Marko Marin has been injured a bit of late and we would have liked to have had him.
