SV Werder Bremen have agreed to the acquisition of Austrian international Zlatko Junuzovic. Manager Klaus Allofs confirmed that the Serbian native has approved the details of the transfer from his current club FK Austria Vienna. The obligatory medical check-up still must be completed. The 24-year-old offensive midfielder will receive a contract until 30 June 2015.
"We had already agreed with the player on a transfer for the coming season. But talks with Austria provided the possibility of moving up the transfer to fair conditions," said Allofs about the planned transfer. Head coach Thomas Schaaf sees Junuzovic as another reinforcement. "Zlatko Junuzovic is technically sound, a good set-up man and has a good shot. We will have more possibilities in the midfield with him," said Schaaf.
Junuzovic is expected in Bremen on Sunday and he will undergo the physical Monday morning. The official presentation of the player is planned for Monday 30 January 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Weser Stadium press conference room.
The midfielder appeared in 19 matches in the first half of the Austrian Bundesliga for Austria Vienna, scoring six goals and setting up eight more. All told, Junuzovic has played in 209 matches and scored 33 goals in Austria's top flight. The 24-year-old had previously played with SK Austria Carinthia and Graz AK. In addition, he was Austria's Footballer of the Year in 2010 and has earned 16 caps for Austria's national team with one goal scored.
